Many industries and individuals use RG59U coaxial cable to transmit communication signals. Most notably, audio, video, or network signals. The term coaxial indicates the cable possesses two concentric conductors. These conductors are separated by an insulating material. Put simply, the inner conductor is encased in a cylindrical material that insulates it. This insulating material is surrounded by a tubular conducting shield. There may even be another insulating layer after the shield in certain cases. Most frequently, the inner conductor carries the signal-carrying voltage while the shield is kept at ground potential. Why create a wire like this? Well, this type of design offers several benefits. Most important is that this design restricts magnetic and electric fields. The fields are restricted to the internal insulating material. This helps to reduce leakage outside the shield.
